What most Americans probably don’t know is that Darren’s career actually continued after “Informer” in the Canadian music scene. Although most had assumed Snow would stay an early 90’s one hit wonder, he has in fact released a total of six albums and 17 singles. 16 of those singles came after “Informer.”

Darren returned to the Canadian pop charts in 2000 with his album, “Mind on the Moon.” He managed to re-chart again two years later with his sixth studio effort, “Two Hands Clapping.”

Snow’s most recent releases have been singles. The first was the single, “Just 4 U,” with Kobra Khan in 2008. The second was “Adore You” in 2009. O’Brien was born on October 30, 1969 in Toronto, Ontario. He became a party deejay at a young age, and from there he met DJ Marvin Prince and formed a collaboration. He signed to label Motorjam/Elektra and released his debut album, ’12 Inches Of Snow,’ in 1993. O’Brien won the Juno award for Best Reggae Recording for ‘Informer’ in 1994. The single ‘Informer’ became the best selling reggae song in United States history and was recorded in the Guinness Book Of World Records. O’Brien followed up his success with the albums ‘Murder Love,’ ‘Justuss,’ ‘Cooler Conditions,’ ‘Mind On The Moon,’ and ‘Two Hands Clapping.’ He released two greatest hits albums titled ‘The Greatest Hits Of Snow’ and ‘Best Remix of Snow.’

Darrin O’Brien, also known as Snow, is a Canadian Hip Hop and Reggae artist from Toronto, Ontario. He grew up in a disadvantaged area in the North York section of Toronto and he later moved to Ajax, Ontario. He was always surrounded by multicultural people in his area as there were a lot of people from Jamaica and other parts of the West Indies, which is how he began experimenting with his own unique blend of hip hop, rock, and reggae. The name Snow came about because some of his neighbors used to call him Snow or Snow White because he was a Caucasian that had taken a strong interest in Jamaican music and culture. O’Brien started working as a DJ in local clubs, which is where he met DJ Marvin Prince, a Jamaican DJ that recognized his talent. From that point, O’Brien began working with DJ Marvin Prince and he would provide the vocals for tracks that they had produced. Soon after O’Brien would be introduced to a popular rapper named MC Shan, who recommended him to some producers in New York City named Steve Salem and David Eng.
